Residents in Puerto Rico can now place wagers using the Caesars Sportsbook mobile betting app or through its accompanying website. Initially, the service will only be open to Puerto Rican citizens, with non-residents gaining the ability to register later this summer.
One of the unique features of Caesars’ online platform is the integration with the Caesars Rewards loyalty program. This allows users to accumulate tier credits for each bet they place, which can then be exchanged for special experiences at various Caesars Entertainment venues.
This online initiative complements Caesars’ existing presence in Puerto Rico, including the land-based sportsbook that opened at Casino Metro in December 2022. This facility has been recently rebranded as ‘MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook.’
Caesars Digital’s president, Eric Hession, expressed his enthusiasm about the mobile launch, stating, “The launch of our mobile sports wagering platform is an excellent complement to the elevated experience we’ve provided customers at MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook at Casino Metro.” He went on to thank the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission and their partners, expressing confidence in delivering an unmatched betting experience in Puerto Rico.
Casino Metro’s general manager, Ismael Vega, also highlighted the significance of this move, saying, “The launch of this app brings our customers MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook in the palm of their hands. The user-friendly app allows customers to bet responsibly from any corner of the island, elevating the experience we offer with MetroBets.”
Caesars is not the only major player in the Puerto Rican market. Other notable brands such as BetMGM, a joint venture between Entain and MGM Resorts International, went live with online sports betting last month. Furthermore, Puerto Rico-based operator ZingSports has partnered with software developer SB22 to enter the sports betting arena, and newly formed operator Ballers Sportsbook announced plans to launch in collaboration with Sportradar.
The competitive landscape in Puerto Rico’s online sports betting sector is heating up, and Caesars’ entry is expected to provide an even more robust option for local bettors. This move further solidifies the company’s commitment to offering innovative gaming experiences and strengthens its position in an expanding market.
